Neelam
Neelam in Malayalam is the term we use for the blue die we put in white clothes. Growing up I’ve seen a lot of kids in school come with blotches of Neelam on their clothes, I always wondered why. Now I’m a doctor and I’ve grown up much since then since the time my mother used to wash my clothes. Now I stay away from home and I do my own chores, including washing my white apron. I put my own Neelam today, and I saw some blotches myself. I had a conversation with my father about it he told me there is so much variability in the way each company of Neelam acts, the quantity you use and how long you leave it in. Basically every blotch had its story. As each of us have. Those many years back I wondered, but today I know. Each one of those parents had a different story.
